Farmington Girls' Basketball Win 4A State Championship

Farmington Lady Cardinal Basketball

The Farmington Lady Cardinals Basketball secured the program's third-ever state championship last Thursday in Hot Springs after a close win against the Nashville Scrappers.

  • Our turn: After losing by one point to the same team in last year's state championship, the Cardinals returned to state this year with something to prove, defeating Nashville 65-61.
  • On the boys' side: Also competing in Hot Springs last weekend, the Springdale High Bulldogs were runners-up in the 6A boys' championship after facing Jonesboro, who secured their third consecutive state title.

Arkansas-Missouri Railroad Announces Spring Train Excursions

The Arkansas-Missouri Railroad has announced schedules for spring train rides this March, taking passengers down the tracks through stunning views of the Boston Mountains and the beautiful spring scenery of the Ozarks.

  • Wednesday wanderings: Catch the Springdale to Van Buren ride departing the Springdale station at 8a on Mar 15 and 22 for a full-day, 134-mi round trip and a three-hour layover for lunch and shopping in Van Buren.
  • Saturday scenic route: Hop aboard the Springdale to Winslow trip departing at 11a on Mar 18 and 25 for a three-hour, 70-mi round trip through the ruggedly beautiful Boston Mountain range of the Ozarks, including three valley trestles and the 1700-ft long Winslow tunnel.

Arkansas Joins The Big Dance With Illinois On Thursday

After back-to-back NCAA Elite 8 appearances, Arkansas is headed back to the 2023 NCAA Championship for another March Madness run as the West Region's No. 8-seed.

  • The Muss Bus: This marks the third consecutive year Coach Musselman has led the Hogs to the tournament, following his fourth straight 20-win season.
  • Down the line: Arkansas will face No. 9-seed Illinois in the opening round on Thursday, Mar 16, at 3:30p, and a win would pit the Razorbacks against the winner of No. 1 seed Kansas and No. 16 seed Northern Kentucky on Saturday, Mar 18.

XNA Breaks Ground For Terminal Renovation Project

Northwest Arkansas National Airport will break ground tomorrow, Mar 14, at 1p on their $34m terminal renovation, significantly improving the growing airport.

  • Taking off: The renovation will modernize the airport in preparation for the region's continued growth and will take approximately two years to complete.
  • Smooth landing: Updates to the terminal include everything from new baggage-handling equipment, information desks, and flight information displays to new flooring, lighting, and a canopy over the drop-off area.
